Pain in the heart can be different in nature and intensity – from mild discomfort behind the sternum to intense burning, stabbing, cutting pain.
Often such pain can radiate to the hand, under the shoulder blade, neck, ear and even the lower jaw. Such painful sensations arise mainly in response to some stimulus – emotional experiences, physical factors (cold or heat, for example), overload, sometimes even during self-care.
In many cases, this pain is caused by damage to the arteries of the heart – coronary arteries, inside which an atherosclerotic plaque is formed, as a result of which there is a violation of the blood supply to the heart – myocardial ischemia. One of the most dangerous clinical variants of myocardial ischemia is a life-threatening myocardial infarction.
Timely visit to a qualified doctor, compliance with their recommendations on lifestyle and nutrition, regular use of prescribed medicines, implementation of modern invasive measures (if necessary) improves the patient's condition and prognosis.
